You’ve spent months planning your wedding, you shouldn’t spend the day making sure everyone else knows what they’re doing. When you book me to be your on-the-day coordinator you get: • a handover meeting 6-8 weeks before, an opportunity for you to give me all the details that are in your brain and share all the details you have planned • bespoke timeline created by me for your day • I will then do final confirmations with all your suppliers 2-4 weeks before and manage all communication from that point • I will be there with you on the day for up to 10 hours, to manage all the details of your wedding day. I know for some people their wedding date is very important and can sometimes mean something to them, however for most it's just a date. You might find that when you start enquiring with your dream suppliers they aren't available. However my advice would be don’t look to book someone or somewhere else just because your first choice isn’t available. If they’re important to you, ask about alternative dates before making a compromise. And if your date is flexible, use that to your advantage. Your wedding date is one detail. Where you get married and the people you trust to bring it all together are more important than the date in the grand scheme of things. My dad's line to me when we were planning our wedd My dad's line to me when we were planning our wedding was "you've got to cut your cloth accordingly", which meant I had to prioritize what I could actually afford V what I had on my wishlist. Which in my case, meant I didn't rent chairs for my venue that already had perfectly good chairs there for my guests to sit on 😂 Don’t start your wedding budget with what you've seen on social media or Pinterest. Start with your priorities. Before booking anything, sit down together and decide: • What matters most to you? • What are your non-negotiables? • Where are you happy to spend more? • Where could you actually save? • What are you not bothered about having? (Decide at the beginning so you don't get pulled into spending unnecessarily) Then split your budget around what matters most to YOU, rather than what a wedding “should” cost. Your budget should reflect your priorities, not everyone else’s and most importantly only be within a scope of what you can afford. “Our venue coordinator will do that.” And they ab “Our venue coordinator will do that.” And they absolutely might! Venue coordinators are brilliant, and they play a really important role in making sure your venue runs smoothly on the day. But there’s an important distinction between a venue coordinator and a wedding coordinator. Your venue coordinator is there to look after the venue, the room furniture setup, catering, venue staff, timings and everything that needs to happen within the venue. Your wedding coordinator is there to look after you. Your suppliers. Your timeline. Your venues (if your day is based across multiple sites) Your guests. Your personal touches. Your decorations and styling. Your plans. And all those little details that make your wedding yours. It’s not about one being better than the other, they actually work brilliantly together. So when you’re deciding whether you need a wedding coordinator, ask your venue exactly what their coordinator will (and won’t) take care of. And what staffing looks like on the day. For example on my wedding day, the venue coordinator I had been discussing my plans with for months left mid-afternoon (as that was the end of her shift 😅) and I had another member of staff from that point onwards (who was great, thankfully, but I met her then and there on the day). Because knowing the difference could be the difference between managing your wedding day… and actually enjoying it. Before I was a wedding planner, I spent 13+ years Before I was a wedding planner, I spent 13+ years working in events, marketing and communications, producing everything from conferences, summits and workshops for some pretty incredible global brands across the world. There have been a lot of highlights along the way. There have also been gastro bugs, forgotten names, terrifying glass floors, demanding clients and more last-minute problems than I care to remember 😂 But every one of those experiences taught me something. How to stay calm when things go wrong. How to find a solution when there isn't an obvious one. How to manage a million moving parts without making it look like there are a million moving parts. Because your wedding should feel exciting, personal and completely you, not like you're managing an event. You don’t have to invite everyone. Your wedding g You don’t have to invite everyone. Your wedding guest list doesn’t need to be a reflection of who you *should* invite. It should be a reflection of the people you genuinely want beside you when you say “I do”. Family expectations, old friendships, work colleagues, friends of your parents and the dreaded “but they invited us to theirs…” can make your guest list hundreds of people long in a blink. But remember, this is *your* wedding. If someone being there would add joy, invite them. If you’re only inviting them because you feel guilty, pressured or worried about what they’ll think… it’s okay to leave them off the list. A smaller guest list can mean more time with the people you love, a more personal celebration and, importantly, more room in the budget for the things that matter to you. I can’t even explain the breath I took yesterday w I can’t even explain the breath I took yesterday when I stood on the deck of a boat in the middle of the Irish Sea, looking out at this. Life has been a lot over the last few months. We’ve had some huge changes as a family. At Easter, I went back to my teaching job after maternity leave, full of emotion about how quickly my babies are growing. We then sold our first home of eight years, a place filled with so many memories and we’re currently doing up our new family home (prosecco budget, champagne dreams 😅) while staying with my wonderful parents. And, in the midst of all of that, we unexpectedly lost my lovely father-in-law. It’s been a lot to hold and I've struggled with what to post on here and lost my momentum a little bit. The reason I started this business isn’t because I hate my day job (I don’t), or because I’m secretly aiming to become a millionaire (although… wouldn’t that be nice 😆). I started it because it brings me joy. I love events. I missed working on them when I left the events agency world to become a business teacher a couple of years ago. I’ve always wanted to build something of my own, I know I’m very good at what I do, and I genuinely live and breathe planning and organising. So combining that with events like weddings, days that are so full of joy, love and excitement, just felt like a no-brainer. And yesterday, when I stepped onto the deck of the ferry and looked out at the moving sea and moody sky, knowing I was on my way to Ireland for a few weeks with my family, I felt a little bit lighter. It reminded me that sometimes, when life feels heavy, it’s about finding the joy where you can or creating little specks of it for yourself. Because sometimes those little moments are enough to make you stop, take a breath, and remember that life is still pretty bloody beautiful.
